List of Tournament Formats: 2016-2017 PBA Philippine Cup
Elimination round- 11 games each team
- top 8 teams advance to the quarterfinals
- bottom 4 teams will be eliminated
- playoff game will be held for #8 spot if there is tie with the win-loss record
Quarterfinal round
- top 2 teams after the elimination will have the twice-to-beat advantage against #7 and #8. #1 vs #8, and #2 vs #7. #1 and #2 only needs to win just one game to advance to the semis, while #7 and #8 needs to beat #1 and #2 twice to advance to the semis.
- top 3 will fight top 6 and top 4 will fight top 5 both for a best-of-3 series. (Meaning, there is a possibility that the series will have 3 games). First team to get 2 wins will advance to the semis.
Q1: #1 vs #8 (#1 twice-to-beat)
Q2: #2 vs #7 (#2 twice-to-beat)
Q3: #3 vs #6 (best-of-3)
Q4: #4 vs #5 (best-of-3)
Semifinal round
- this will be a best-of-seven series, meaning, first team to get 4 wins will advance to the finals.
- it's going to be winner of 1vs8 vs winner of 4vs5, and other bracket will be winner of 2vs7 vs winner of 3vs6.
S1: Q1 vs Q4
S2: Q2 vs Q3
Final round
- this will be a best-of-seven series, meaning, first team to get 4 wins will be the champion.
