Coach Yeng Guiao will be the Gilas Pilipinas stand-in head coach for the first (2) games of our team in the second round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

The team will face Iran (away) on September 13, and Qatar (home) on September 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum (closed-door).




Guiao (according to sources) already had the 14-man pool for the qualifier as the main Gilas players (most of them) were suspended by FIBA including our naturalized player Andray Blatche. Now, here are some of the names mentioned that Guiao has on his 14-man pool.

Only 6 players were named according to the Spin.ph report. And as you can see Guiao will need to select between Standhardinger and Pringle as our naturalized player. There are also some issues regarding Slaughter and Lassiter about their eligibility to play for our country.
